The Alpha Epsilon Alumni Chapter of Delta Sigma Phi fraternity, invites applications for the Suzanne J. Wasiolek Graduate Fellowship.

The Fellowship was established to provide a stipend for graduate study, academic research, or public service to one graduating senior member of a primarily male and one graduating senior member of a primarily female Greek letter organization at Duke University. The Fellowship is named in honor of retired Dean of Student Affairs Sue Wasiolek in recognition of her decades of service to undergraduate campus life. The amount of the stipend may vary from year-to-year. Each stipend awarded to a member of the Class of 2025 will be in the amount of $1,000 and may be used for any academic or personal expense connected to graduate study, academic research, or public service.
Criteria for the Fellowship are:

A conspicuous and consistent commitment throughout their undergraduate years, specifically through and including their senior year, to the to the principles, activities and success of their own organization and the Greek community in general as attested by the President of their organization.

An understanding of, and ability to articulate clearly, the positive role of Greek letter organizations in undergraduate residential and social life, as reflected in their personal statement.

An understanding of, and ability to articulate clearly, the concept of lifelong membership in a Greek letter organization and the benefits and responsibilities of such membership beyond the undergraduate years, as reflected in their personal statement.

Such other considerations, including demonstrated financial need if any, as would cause an award to that individual to reflect favorably upon the role of Greek letter organizations in campus life, to the extent that the applicant wishes to articulate such considerations.
Interested applicants should submit a personal statement, not to exceed 500 words, addressing these criteria, endorsed by the President of their organization, together with such supporting materials as they may wish to include. Submissions may be sent via the below form. To be considered, submissions must be received by May 31, 2025. Awards will be announced before the end of June.
Individual students in good standing are eligible to apply whether or not their local organization is itself currently recognized by the University if it is recognized by its national organization. Members of local organizations without a national affiliation are eligible only if their organization is currently recognized by the University. Eligibility for one award or the other depends upon the primary gender membership of the organization of which the individual is a member and will be made without regard to the personal gender identification of the individual.
